Imagine this:
You have a boss. He has absolute and unchecked powers.
He is supposed to possess the wisdom to lead and guide you.
Yet, the best appraisals and opportunities are only given to those who are callow and obsequious, who fawn and sing his praises.
That, is why religions do not appeal to me.
